Berlin Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center marked the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation and modernization with a September Grand Reopening Open House. Located at 100 Long-A-Coming Lane in Berlin, the skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.
Nearly 100 guests joined leadership of Berlin Rehab & Healthcare and Marquis Health Consulting Services at the Grand Reopening, including care team members, local dignitaries, healthcare colleagues and leadership of Virtua Health and Jefferson Health.
Berlin Mayor Rick Miller, Berlin Rehab & Healthcare Medical Director Dr. Salah Mohageb and Marquis Division President Michael Smith led the ribbon cutting. The Open House event featured tours of the renovated campus, as well as refreshments.
“Berlin’s modernization – involving updates to 17,000 square feet at the center – aligns with its goal to provide transformative skilled nursing care to the Camden County community, which it has served for over 25 years,” said Kate Bauer, regional director of market development at Marquis, which supports Berlin. “Special thanks to Dr. Mohageb for his ongoing leadership.”
A highlight of the full-center renovation is its newly expanded rehab therapy gym, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and other technology to support the delivery of progressive rehab services. A spacious activities of daily living (ADL) suite mimics a home environment with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom – enabling patients the opportunity to regain skills before returning home.
Renovation work included updates to the lobby and subacute wing, including patient rooms. Berlin’s new design boasts a modern feel that is both warm and energizing, with its white and navy color palette along with teal accents. “The new design pairs a high level of functionality with an uplifting aesthetic – it’s just gorgeous,” added Bauer.
During the modernization, Berlin has continued to enhance its programming, including the recent introduction of OrthoWIN, a highly specialized subacute care program for orthopedic recovery. Berlin’s Tracey Harris, MD, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist, directs the new initiative with the support of the center’s interdisciplinary care team.
Berlin’s specialty care programming also includes its well-established Cardiac Care Program. Committed to an advanced level of care, Berlin is an American Heart Association Heart Failure Certified Skilled Nursing Center and also holds a prestigious accreditation for its quality care and services from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
